Espress - An Appetite for Culture
16 December 2015
We’re really excited to have launched our first issue of Espress magazine. But what is it all about? Espress is a complimentary journal of articles, insights and opinions that celebrates culture, food and creative industries. It is available in most of our locations and will be distributed on a quarterly basis.
The name Espress derives from the Italian ‘espressivo’ meaning ‘expressive’ or ‘eloquent’ which was the inspiration for the tone of the magazine. This is a truly beautiful publication that we have designed with London based design studio ICO and we look forward to its development.
We are very proud of the fantastic contributors to our Autumn/Winter issue, including Henrietta Bredin (Opera Magazine), Adam Coghlan (Guardian) and Joe O’Shea (Independent). Experts from the food and drink industry include Karam Sethi (Gymkhana), David Gleave (Liberty Wines) and Kevin Thornton (Thornton’s Restaurant); stars of the design and art world such as Mason Wells (Bibliotheque), Sally Mackereth (Studio Mackereth) and Johnathan Hagos (Freehaus); as well as model, columnist and TV host Naomi Shimada.
Highlights from the first issue include a neighbourhood piece on Fitzrovia, a feature on London Science Museum’s exhibition Cosmonauts: Birth of the Space Age and an opinion piece from Michelin-starred chef Kevin Thornton.
