We love Burleighware
05 July 2015
You may have noticed the beautiful china in our restaurants.
We carefully select everything that goes into each and every one of our sites; from tables and chairs, to counters and coffee machines. And we pay special attention to the fine details, which is why we took our time selecting what we think is the best china for our restaurants.
The pattern on our chinaware is by Burleigh and exclusive to Benugo. We visited the factory in Stoke-On-Trent, in the heart of the historic Potteries region, and got to spend a day with the team, learning about how they make moulds by hand for each piece of china.
Everything is handcrafted in the historic Middleport Pottery, according to the 18th Century method of ‘underglaze transfer printing’. In fact, Middleport is the only factory remaining still using this method.
Not only is the crafting process truly unique but all of the ball clay and china clay used to create these beautiful plates is sourced from Devon and Cornwall, making it 100% British.
As a 100% British brand ourselves, albeit a lot newer (!), we make a point of working with other British companies whenever we can. We are passionate about supporting businesses with unique heritage and we believe our attention to these details makes all the difference when you’re experiencing a meal with us.
