Benugo is proud to have taken part in the Islington Play Association Playday on the 7th August at Paradise Park in London. The annual Playday is a free event for the whole family, celebrating children’s play. Islington Play Association exists to empower and support young people through play and works closely with parents, carers and community members.
Alongside volunteers from our charity partner Kitchen Social, who provide healthy meals and a range of social development activities during the holidays to support children from low-income backgrounds, members of the Benugo support office ran a stand at the Playday. We provided 750 cans of water kindly donated by LifeWater, our water partner, and a range of fruits donated by Reynolds.
The children were invited to create fruit art, forming shapes with cookie cutters and making fruit kebabs. Freshly cut fruit pots were handed out for older children and parents to enjoy as a healthy snack whilst enjoying the numerous events provided at the park. Everyone enjoyed getting creative with the fruits and we saw some great gingerbread men made of melon, flowers from pineapple and watermelon stars.
Despite the odd showers of rain throughout the afternoon, everyone got stuck in and enjoyed the activities, creating healthy refreshments to fuel an afternoon of play.
Thank you to everyone who volunteered and made the afternoon a success!
