It is one of the iconic museums of the world. When you stand in the magnificent Great Court, you are at the centre of a stunning, 360-degree panorama that is one of London’s truly great spaces. The British Museum is a treasure in its own right. With one restaurant, two food-trucks and four cafes dotted around its vast galleries and precincts, we are always there to make sure you can enjoy hours of touring and taking in the ever-changing, big-ticket exhibitions.
The East and West Cafes, in the Great Court, serve coffee, tea, fresh sandwiches, salads and light snacks and sweet treats. They are great spots to take time out from touring the halls and galleries of treasures.
If you are bringing the children, the Gallery Café has a varied and ever-changing menu to satisfy appetites big and small. Kids also eat for free.
For those who want to see everything, make sure to stop by one of our two food trucks in the grand forecourt, serving hot dogs, waffles, ice-creams and hot drinks next to the relative calm of the outdoor seating area. It’s a lovely spot for a coffee and snack in spring or summer.
We love The Great Court Restaurant, under the glass roof at the centre of the Great Court (just look for the sweeping steps). It’s one of those unique, instantly recognisable London spaces, perfect for taking a moment to gaze down on the crowds below.
