For the first time in its recent history, from 20th March 2024 the Natural History Museum will serve a truly inspired and eagerly awaited afternoon tea. Aptly named Inspired by Nature, an array of sweet and savoury treats has been expertly created by our very own pastry chefs to celebrate British farmers and growers and is inspired by nature’s wonders to showcase the very best of British seasonal produce.

Exciting choices for all, including vegan options, will be available. Guests will be able to choose from a hand-picked selection of loose-leaf teas alongside Coronation chicken sandwiches; British cucumber with black pepper Crematta on white bread; and Cherry tomato, red onion, Superstraccia and pesto tart, followed by Earl Grey scones served with Cornish clotted cream & Tiptree strawberry jam; and a sweet pea & lemon cake.

Afternoon tea at the Natural History Museum wouldn’t be complete without an Earth pot filled with raspberry and chocolate; a dinosaur-footprint macaron or an ammonite cookie, ensuring a truly nature-immersive experience.

Inspired by Nature, priced from £35/ with Prosecco £40, will be served in The Anning Rooms, the exclusive members and patrons’ space boasting unrivalled views of the Museum’s famous architecture.

The afternoon tea experience is prebooked only but open to all, providing the perfect opportunity to relax after a tour of the museum’s latest exhibitions. These include the world-famous Wildlife Photographer of the Year, which opened its doors to its 59th iteration last October, and the upcoming Birds: Brilliant & Bizarre, the latest headline exhibition set to land 24 May.

Robert Wetherell, Head of Events and Catering at the Natural History Museum, said: “We are delighted to be bringing this charming new afternoon tea offering to our visitors. We have worked closely with Benugo’s impeccable pastry experts to curate this aptly-named Inspired by Nature tea, which will be the perfect addition to your visit to the Natural History Museum this year.”

Starting 20th March, the Natural History Museum’s Inspired by Nature afternoon tea will be available Wednesday through to Sunday, 12pm and 3pm.
