Westminster Abbey’s Cellarium Café & Terrace is celebrating the vibrant flavours of the Commonwealth with a brand‑new Commonwealth Dish Competition.
The competition invites you to submit a favourite recipe from any of the 56 Commonwealth nations – along with a short story explaining why the dish is meaningful to you. From Trinidadian doubles and Sri Lankan wattalapam to Malaysian laksa, South African bobotie and Kenyan sukuma wiki, entries can be personal, traditional, inventive or nostalgic.
The winning dish will appear on the Cellarium’s special Commonwealth menu throughout the summer, and the winner will receive a £200 voucher to enjoy their creation. Judges will be looking for both flavour and the story behind the recipe.
Served beneath the Cellarium’s striking glass ceiling and surrounded by centuries‑old stonework, the menu will take diners on a global culinary journey that celebrates the unity and diversity of the Commonwealth.
“Food has a unique power to tell stories, connect cultures and bring people together,” says Lorraine Rossdale, Head of Ceremonial, Events and Marketing at Westminster Abbey.
